Evaldas Balčiūnas was born in 1989 in the beautiful city of Vilnius. He attended the Simonas Daukantas secondary school. Evaldas got his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University under the supervision of Dr. Daiva Baltriukienė and Dr. Mangirdas Malinauskas in 2012. Whilst studying, Evaldas was involved in various extracurricular scientific activities. This lead to the winning of a prize from the Lithuanian National Academy of Sciences in 2011 for the best student research paper. After doing his master’s degree in molecular biology at Vilnius University in early 2014, Evaldas is now pursuing a scientific career in the fields of tissue engineering and cell-based lab-on-a-chip sensors.
